Category: Sewing

Type of item: Functional

For: Unisex

Style: Retro / Vintage, Classic

Materials

Quilting weight cotton, muslin, flax seed, lavender, chamomile flowers, sewing machine

What was your inspiration?

I wanted to create a pretty and useful gift that I could sew up quickly.

These Relax Packs are the perfect pampering gift to give. They can be heated up in the microwave or chilled in the freezer and provide a wonderful, herbal experience for the user.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

I chose lavender and chamomile flowers for their soothing aroma, you can try different herbal flowers of your liking or make a non-scented Relax Pack.

I like the idea of the flax seed I have one my sister-in-law purchased for me and I am literally wearing it out and have yet to find a pattern with the flax seed in it, up until now, Thanks so much for sharing. Mine is a shawl and quite a bit bigger but I think if this pattern were tripled it would make the same size, mine also has a cinnamon scent to it, which is very soothing too.

Where can chamomile and lavender flowers be purchased ? I'm assuming you used dried ? Love this project ! I made one with dry rice, which works very well for warmth, but I didn't care so much for the smell of warm rice. Thanks for sharing.

I went on- line and found a seller for the dried lavender and chamomile flowers. Shop around, prices vary and quantities vary. Depending on how many you plan to make you might want a bulk quantity. The flax seed is nice, no smell when heated and not pointy like rice is. You can find that in the health food section of most grocery stores.

WONDERFUL! This is just what I need for holiday gifts that is quick, simple and not very expensive for supplies. Our family and friends are all over 50 now and most in the 70 to 85 range, with aches and pains. Thank you Sharon, for sharing this terriffic and useful project. Blessings.
