Reggie's Football Shirt

Is this your project? Can you share instructions or a pattern with the Craftsy community?

Difficulty:

Category: Sewing

Type of item: Clothing

For: Other

Style: Casual

Materials

I recycled a toddler sized shirt.

What was your inspiration?

I can no longer purchase this style of t-shirt. Now that I am sewing again I can make them myself. I deconstructed one of Reggie's old shirts in order to make a pattern. My first attempt (a red shirt I'll also share here) was too snug so I re-sized the pattern and this time I was successful. This style shirt normally retails for $15 to $20. Mine cost me about $1 to make.

I sewed this on a new-to-me Kenmore 1753 that I picked up on Craigslist for $15. It is in awesome condition and came with all the original accessories including the pattern cams, button holer and chain stitch attachment. Squee!

What are you most proud of?

That I was able to re-size the pattern to make it fit correctly. I still haven't had a chance to take that online couture dressmaking course I signed up for. Need to get on that.

I agree what a lucky dog!! I had a Kenmore for years and I loved it. I have passed it to my daughter and granddaughters. Have fun!

Thanks, I will. I've been too busy this week and haven't had a chance to sew. I'm going through withdrawals.

Thanks Jean. Sewing for Reggie is like making doll clothes. :-) I adore older sewing machines. I have 13 of them although I'll probably be thinning my herd a bit. Starting to trip over them. These older Kenmores are great. And they aren't as popular as the Singers so you can get them for next to nothing.

What a lucky dog!! Love the idea of repurposing. You've done well here. And.... yet ANOTHER neat machine. Lucky you! I'm gonna have to start looking around for bargains like this.
