Category: Quilting
Type of item: Home Decor
For: Charity
Style: Casual
Materials
A variety of tee shirts (1 dozen +) Cotton/poly blend fabric for cross pieces and backing. Poly fill batting for center. Pellon fusible interfacing for stabilizing cotton fabric and tee shirts.
What was your inspiration?
A lifelong love affair with the Boston Red Sox combined with a wish to create and donate quilts to charitable organizations for fund-raising effort.
What are you most proud of?
The very first quilt I created for the Boston Red Sox Foundation was auctioned for $7100.00!!! All together, the quilts that I have created have raised over $12000.00 for Boston based charities.
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
You need to have basic sewing skills. Collect Tee shirts that have something in common. A color theme, a sports theme, a school theme all work well to produce a finished product that the recipient will love!
