Instructions

This pattern was found in a magazine from about 5 years back and I've long ago forgotten the source. It's made up of two different blocks, different because the fabrics and colors are reversed. When the blocks are alternated they create new designs, fooling the eye as to what the original block is.

Difficulty:

Category: Quilting

Type of item: Functional

For: Home

Style: Cute, Whimsical, Casual

Materials

Red Hat fabrics from different collections, Warm and Natural batting

What was your inspiration?

Beautiful red and purple prints mixed with a bit of green and gold. Such strong colors to work into one quilt. I just needed to make something from the Red Hat collection.

What are you most proud of?

It was a fun pattern to work with, the quilt looks like its blocks are on point, but look again. I had one aunt still living and not doing well health wise. I thought she'd like to have a quilt to snuggle with, and besides she's the only woman i knew who admitted to being over 60.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

I've said it before, sometimes fabric just calls to you "pick me, pick me" and then you have to figure out what to do with it when you get home. Shop until you drop and then put your feet up and look at magazines for suggestions on how to make that talking fabric into something functional.

I really love what you have done with both quilts and I was wondering if you would be able to share the pattern, or possibly some links or tips in finding instructions for it? Wonderful work!

I don't know what the name of the quilt pattern was. I'm thinking it was in The Quilter magazine about 6 years back. I ,Love the pattern and also made a second quilt which I would have to study to make yet another. The pattern block is int the lower right corner with green post corners. The center of the block was constrcted as you would a 9 patch and then the final border is added.. I think the finished block was 14 inches.. Sorry I can't give youmore specific help.
