What was your inspiration?
I wanted to show a tree that had been shaped by the wind. I use wool roving to dry needle felt my trees. The red birds are also needle felt. I was experimenting with showing birds in flight. The tree buds are wool crewel yarn embroidery.
What are you most proud of?
I love how the tree trunk looks feminine. Can you see the shape of a woman's body?
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
I often work on linen as my foundational fabric. If you do, too, be aware that the weave of the linen cannot be too loose, or your needle felting will not be sturdy at all.
