Instructions

I used the feed sacks that are a woven plastic. They need to be washed out first.

Difficulty:

Category: Sewing

Type of item: Accessory

For: Other

Style: Geeky, Outdoorsy, Eco-Friendly

Materials

Feed sack from deer corn, deer protein, pet food, bird seed....

What was your inspiration?

LOTS of empty bags of deer corn bags from our 3 deer feeders! Not wanting them to all go into garbage, they're woven plastic.

What are you most proud of?

Coming up with the design and writing an easy pattern, and selling at last 20 bags so far for about $10 each, and selling the pattern. A quilt shop owner wanted me to write the pattern and she bought some to sell in her shop, and some bags to sell too.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Wash bags. You have to pull the string from ends to open bags. If using a rotary cutter, which speeds it up, use an old one and don't expect it to be used on fabric again.
