Instructions

Because I used an oversize shirt instead of a well-fitting dress, I had to bring in the width under the arms a bit. I should also have reduced the width at the centre front a bit, as it gapes a bit more than I like.

Difficulty:

Category: Sewing

Type of item: Clothing

For: Children

Style: Cute, Casual

Materials

Skinny-cut top 5 sizes too big from thrift shop, scissors, scraps of knit fabric, sewing thread, snaps

What was your inspiration?

I stumbled onto the tutorial and it was so cute I had to try it!

What are you most proud of?

I think this is a very versatile method that I will use many times.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Make sure whatever item you modify either fits at the shoulders/chest or can be easily made to do so and that it is long enough to reach under the crotch with at least 2 inches to spare.
