I do my best to write frequent letters to friends, family and basically anyone who will write me back. The targets of my hobby include philatelics, the president, and 88 year old lady in California, and associates around the world, So I am always on the quest for interesting stationery, and looking for ways to recycle and reuse. Lately I have been saving banking envelopes, return envelopes from bills that I have paid on line, and hotel stationery, and re-purposing it into custom made stationery. It has been a big hit with everyone who has received one of the crafty-creations (except maybe those who were expecting money in the bank envelopes)! A few notes; 1. Be sure to cross out any pre-printed addresses, to avoid mix-up with the postal system. 2. Don't use envelopes with pre-paid postage, as that's not allowed. 3. On envelopes with plastic windows, be sure to fold your letter so that some interesting graphics peaks out. I like to use pages from magazines. 4. When you buy stamps by the sheet, they are sometimes printed with a large graphic image to illustrate the collection, and has the same adhesive back. I use this as a decorative element to add some character to the envelope. As an avid letter-writer, I am always looking for interesting stationery. For this project I recycled bank envelopes, return envelopes from bills paid on line, and hotel stationery.
I ran across an old stack of Christmas cards and used the front cover on this past year's cards. I cut out a window frame and put the scenic card covers behind them.
