Learn It

This project was made as part of a Craftsy course:
Design Your Own Handbag »

Difficulty:

Category: Sewing

Type of item: Accessory

For: Women

Style: Eco-Friendly, Rock / Punk, Funky

Materials

Old leather jacket, stud from old belt, dismantled jewlery, leopard faux swade interfacing and curtain rings

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

When sewing with leather or vinyl there may be some problems with sticking to the presser foot , so you might want to consider using a tare away paper on top when sewing. Also when I had to do thicker areas like attaching the straps to the purse base I found using the darning foot with the feed dogs still engaged worked perfectly .

This is so cute! I'm a Barbie collector and love putting unusual (read: that nobody else has) things in my collection. This looks fantastic, great job.

Wow! Love it. Really awesome. I recently tried leather (just for trims, not entire bags like you have) and had a night mare on my machine. So big thanks for the tip re paper and darning foot.
