Materials

An old desk from a thrift store, spray paint in various colors, stickers and chalkboard paint

What was your inspiration?

My granddaughter needed a place to do her homework. We found this cute old desk at a thrift store for $10. It was the perfect piece to work on. It has really nice straight lines (easy to tape off areas) and was in really good stable condition.

What are you most proud of?

That my granddaughter loves it. She uses it all the time and keeps it neat and tidy. It all came out really well except the legs.....I put the stickers on the inside of the legs instead of the outside, so now the cute sticker pattern is a surprise on the inside of the legs.
I did this project in just one day.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Use very simple sticker shapes or use tape to create a design all your own. Make certain to tape off all the areas you don't want to paint even if you are very careful, this will help in not having overspray on areas you don't want painted. Make certain you keep all the pieces that you take apart so you can put them back together again. I painted the main color first, then applied stickers to show that color through after the entire piece was painted.
