Re-Piecing the Past Project

Learn It

This project was made as part of a Craftsy course:
Re-Piecing the Past: Civil War Blocks Then & Now »

Difficulty:

Category: Quilting

Type of item: Functional

For: Home

Style: Retro / Vintage

Materials

100% Cotton - Civil War reproduction prints

What are you most proud of?

I didn't have to buy any fabric for this project. I used scraps left-over from other quilts that I have made.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

This is a class that I wish had been available to me years ago. Civil War reproduction fabrics and patterns are my favorites, but some of the blocks can be challenging. Kaye's techniques make these challenges easy to overcome.
I was very happy to learn how to use connectors to bring quilt blocks together, no matter what size they are. It seems that I always have orphan blocks. Using this method of joining blocks, I can now turn them into a quilt that looks like it was "meant to be that way."
