Instructions

This is my version of a pattern from March/April 2009 Creative Home Arts Club magazine. It uses single crochet in much the same way as Amigurumi patterns.

Materials

Caron Simply Soft "Brights" yarn, Fiberloft Polyester Stuffing..

What was your inspiration?

When I saw this pattern I knew it was perfect for creating a special memory for my first grandson's first Easter. He has since grown to love it and and often chooses "Rainbow Bunny" as one of his "guys" to sleep with at bedtime.

What are you most proud of?

I downsized the original pattern, without losing any of its charming design, to make a smaller version that can be hugged and played with. I also made him younger kid friendly using all yarn - no buttons, or plastic eyes.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

When purchasing the yarn buy extra (which you may return if unused) and make sure each skein is from the same run. Check your guage for an even stitch that neither puckers nor stretches. Change to a larger or smaller hook as needed. Have fun!

PS: His ears are just long tapered segments without stuffing.

A couple details for those looking for the pattern. This comes from a Club Member's magazine I belonged to in the past. I altered the pattern considerably for two reasons. First the original instructions would have made a rabbit the size of a two year old! So I downsized it myself. Second I wanted him to be completely child safe so I didn't use buttons as called for. He is completely yarn and stuffing. He is also basically an Amigurumi toy that uses all single crochet. The only variation are increases and decreases. You just stitch around and around and around making segments long or short, wide or narrow, etc. to create his body parts. For those of you who crochet look for free Amigurumi patterns online. Perhaps you can use one as a basic design or adapt one to suit your purposes. I say all this because I don't know if the Club requires membership for reprints.....

Hi Judi - Info on the pattern is included in the Project description. I made him 3 years ago for my grandson's 1st Easter. He was only a few days old. I recently looked for the pattern and was unable to find it. You may be able to get a reprint....

Hi there- The pattern is from an old issue of Home Arts Magazine. The link below should take you to March/April 2009 on their site. I imagine you will have to request a reprint of the article. Hope this helps! http://www.creativehomeartsclub.com/magazine/past-issues/articletype/archiveview/month/3/year/2009
