Materials

100% cotton fabric is various colors, rug backing

What was your inspiration?

I love rainbow colors!
This technique is called 'Locker Hooking'. It uses a locker hook, which is like a crochet hook with a needle eye at the other end. It's very much like doing Tunisian crochet.

What are you most proud of?

I learned a new technique for joining fabric strips on this one that doesn't require sewing together.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Make sure to leave enough rug backing when you are sewing on your border... it can come unraveled if you cut it too close to your work.

Gorgeous - its way too nice to use as a bath mat. Should be displayed on your wall as a work of art. Well done.

Locker Hooking is a wonderful way of using up any strip of fabric. I have used old sheets, duvet covers, and that ugly fabric that I never should have bought. You do need enough strips to equal about 12 yards of fabric to make a nice sized rug. A king sheet is equivalent to 10 yards!

Great colors. in a book I have on locker hooking, the edges are finished first by turning under the edges twice and whip stitching the fabric over to prevent raveling and no rough edges to catch while you are working. you have inspired me to get the UFO out again and really finish it this time. Congrats!

Love it! Very bright and fun. I discovered this craft several years ago and really liked it, but set it aside to do other things. May have to pull it back out again! :)
