Share a little about the materials, processes and techniques used to create this piece. 2H, B, 6B pencils 7. 5 inches high, x 10 inches wide I had this scene in my mind after doing a field sketch outside the Baltimore Street car museum. It's a neat area that is somewhat isolated and free from tons of tourists. I feel good about the drawing. Compositionally it succeeds perhaps a crop at the bottom might help, and I think I'm getting a better sense on spatial values. The pole occupying the right part feels somewhat problematic. It may fight with the bridge as main subject. In fact the more I look at it maybe I don't need it.

Hello jjwoodee, Please pardon the delay in response, I just noticed that my criticism did not post.

Once again, thank you for sharing the information on materials, process and insights. Also for including the trenchantly rendered quick sketch. I would not crop the finished drawing as it needs that large foreground to balance all the elements in the middleground: The bridge, the shadow mass of the bridge and the building. Also, it is the appropriate foil to the background. Compositionally, the one area that may be amended is the sky: I would like to see more sky. That being said, this is arguably your most successful drawing to date. Congratulations! I agree with you about the pole in the foreground, do not know if complete omission is the solution. Perhaps, moving to the right somewhat? Try that in another drawing if you wish. All-in-all, well done. In this short time, you have progressed thoughtfully, deliberately and conveyed an authentic delight of what you experienced. I look forward to seeing the post of your next assignment.

Iv'e added a recent plein air painting completed in oil 16 x 20 inches, using the suggestions of more sky and moving hte ple to the right.
