What was your inspiration?

I once saw a quilt in a quilt shop that was done in black, white, red and gray. I LOVED it! It was the first pattern I had ever truly fallen in love with. I knew at the time that my skill level was not up to the task. I saw this pattern elsewhere many years later and thought that I might be able to handle it.

What are you most proud of?

My youngest son and his wife love, love, love this quilt!!! It is modern enough that it appeals to them!

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Be sure that your rows don't twist or curve on you. I sewed my material into strips and then cut my squares. Be sure that everything is squared up! This is not a perfect quilt technique-wise but I have only been quilting for 3 years and the only class I have taken is from Craftsy online!

The quilt is beautiful. Are you sure you have only been quilting for 3 years? Great use of color. Did you quilt it or send it to a longarm quilter?

You are making me blush, and yes, I have only been quilting for 3 years and I am self taught. I am currently taking the machine quilting course on Craftsy, but I have never taken any other course. I quilted this quilt on my Pfaff machine, I have never used a longarm quilter, but I love the beautiful finishing of the longarm quilting. Someday...... again thank you for the wonderful compliment.

Marcie, this was a challenging project for me in some ways, I am really a virgin quilter, but once I got going on it, I found it to be a good project for beginners. You can do it!!!!!

Really striking color combination - the little bit of red catches your eye. Great job! And if you hadn't said your quilt was not perfect, I would not have been the wiser. Keep up the great work.
