Rag Puppy Quilt
What materials did you use?
Flannel novelty prints
Fiskars makes a great pair of rag quilting shears. They are definitely worth the money if you are going to do rag quilting. Clipping is easy with the right shears!
where can I find the pattern? I would like to make one for my grand daughter and the one that is on the way.
The pattern is Simplicity 4993. Rag quilt wall hanging, it contains patterns for a bear, cat & dog. I thought the pattern was too big for my purposes, so I made my own pattern to make it a bit smaller. I hate to pay for patterns, they are soo expensive, so I try to figure it out myself!
I was wondering how big you made the finished dog? Also, did you draw out and design your own pattern pieces? I have the material but don't like the pattern. I did not buy it because it looks like it could be simplified! you did a great job.
I agree with you about the pattern. I made my own pattern. Since the dog is symmetrical, you only have to draw out one half of the pattern. The Simplicity pattern looked very complicated, so I simplified it for myself. The finished size was about 60" tall. I drew out the head, and body on a large roll of paper - they are just simple shapes. Then I cut the large shapes into smaller sections. I used these sections as my pattern pieces. Sew each section with the right sides facing out, with a smaller piece of batting sandwiched between. Leave a 1" seam allowance for ragging. Good luck!
I'm Done! Thanks so much for posting your picture! I kept referring back to it . "how did she do the...?" Eyes, ears, muzzle, etc. This was the most rewarding project I have done in a few years. I am now going to do a bunny, based on the body shape. When complete, I will post a picture. Cindy
Where can you get the pattern. I was told that it has been discontinued.
