Materials

red heart worsted weight yarn in black and off white. hook is a 5.5mm

What was your inspiration?

the sleeves on one of my sons shirts has the checkered design and I had just finished making him a viking beanie for halloween, I thought he needed something to fit his wardrobe a little better.

What are you most proud of?

That it turned out decently. I have recieved so many compliments on this hat! I did not have a pattern either! I am going to attempt this again and see if I can duplicate it then write down the pattern. It took a few times because the checkers kept twisting!

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

The ideas you have in your head, just do them. It may take a while and a few redo's (or in my case a ton of redo's), but in the end it is so totally worth it! Also, write down what you do when you do it. That way, you don't have to try to remember later!
