What are you most proud of? Finishing (with a huge help from my friends Connie and Judy) 2 queen quilts and one lap quilt in one month during tax season! Great friends!! The nephews loved their quilts, and the lap quilt was taken to Walter Reed for an injured friend.

What advice would you give someone starting this project? The shake-it-up blocks are SO easy and we love the scrappy look. If you have patterned fabric, be sure to put the 5" squares in the 9-patch corners so that they stay square and whole. If you have access to a longarm quilter, adding solid blocks to drop in to the pieced design for special quilting effects is a nice touch. I thought the varigated thread looked too much like thread clippings scattered all over, but other people liked the look. Be sure to check your colors on the quilted designs (the eagle) to make sure the line will show up well since a stitched line is so much thinner than hand embroidery lines.
