What advice would you give someone starting this project? The 4-Patch is a very very easy pattern and can be found for free most anywhere on the internet or make your own the size you want. However, if you would like to make a quilt for the kids you can go to the link for more information. http://www.quiltsforkids.org/

I just started doing FMQ too and it's so much fun - now it's a rush to get the quilts done so I can have fun doing the quilting part :) Love your heart vine quilting in the border area! Great quilt and great work for charity! I'm doing bunches of quilts for Project Linus - same type of charity. It feeds our love of sewing and for a great cause doesn't it? Keep up the great work!!!

Nancy, Let me apologize for not responding to this sooner...Sometimes life gets in the way..:) I just want to say thanks so much for your kind words....It was such a gratifying feeling when it was completed..In the future my goal is to do pillowcases for breast cancer victims and charity quilts for the kids.....! Have a great sewing day!

Hi Nancy, I haven't been on here in awhile (sometimes life gets in the way..:) ) and apologize for not responding to your comment sooner.. Thanks fo much for your nice compliments....The heart vine was the first thing I ever did with FMQ...I used to work in a quilt shop and the lady that owned it was an award winning longarm quilter....She told me to start off with an easy design, practice with my finger/hand/pencil, over and over again until it was set in memory...Now I can do it from L to R, or R to L, up and down, doesn't matter...it's in my little brain now.....lol I'm planning on making pillowcases for Breast CA patients, plus some neonatal blankets for our preemies at a local hospital......

LOL! I so understand how 'life' gets in the way! I just dropped off three more quilts to Project Linus (forgot to take pics as I was in SUCH a rush to drop them off!). The project linus blankets are not only for a great purpose, it provides me with the opportunity to practice the FMQ designs and increase my skill level. I want to eventually make a Quilt of Valor for a veteran too, perhaps after the first of the year I'll finally get to that. But the Project Linus will be a constant for me. Since I started quilting in April, I've donated 9 different quilts to PL - so much fun!!! Keep quilting and don't forget to breathe deeply and often LOL! Happy Holidays to you!
