Instructions

This is my second quilt for this group. Fun and fast.

Difficulty:

Category: Quilting

Type of item: Functional

For: Charity

Style: Cute, Traditional

Materials

Cotton fabric, fusable low loft quilt batting, cotton quilting thread. Kit provided by Quilts for kids via request on their web site

What was your inspiration?

This is my 2nd quilt for this charity. I like to feel that I contribute positively to the world even if I'm not employed at the moment. Anything that might make a child feel better when they are ill is a worthy endeavor.

What are you most proud of?

That my machine quilting skills are improving!

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Just request the kit and do it. It will make you feel good and some child will be happy and comforted.

Fun and easy once you get the hang of it. I'm sure a long arm would be really helpful for larger quilts; but these smaller ones whip up just fine on a regular machine using a walking foot.

I love this organization. I have done about 7 quilts for them and enjoy it more and more each time I receive one of their kits. I highly recommend that if anyone has the time to help out this organization that you do it. It doesn't take away from any other projects that you might be working on. The kits are super easy to put together and almost everything is already cut for you (you cut the four patches). All you have to do is add batting and put it together. I was a beginner when I started doing these. They can literally be completed in less than an hour or two. I love knowing that I will be putting a smile on a childs face. It's like giving away hugs!
