Feathers & Beads

Learn It

This project was made as part of a Craftsy course:
Design It, Quilt It: Free-Form Techniques »

Instructions

The fabric was marked with a water soluble pen using a combination of stencils.

Difficulty:

Category: Quilting

Type of item: Home Decor

For: Home

Style: Traditional

Materials

100% cotton fabric, 2 layers of wool batting, muslin backing...polyester thread and plenty of seed beads ( I used fabric paint to add some color and also painted the seed beads to see them better.)

What was your inspiration?

I was inspired to try the techniques from Cindy Needham's class instructions and my husband thought it was pretty enough to frame. Thanks, Cindy!!

What a beautiful piece!!! The beads and the matting show off your design, quilting and paint really well. I love that you actually framed it too!

Looks beautiful. Looks like a antique linen, a la cindy. Did you achieve that look with thread and paint? Genius

It's not linen, but, the fabric paint was needed to bring out the design better...I also painted the seed beads a metallic bronze so they could be seen more. Thanks for your comments! Jan

An artist friend of mine suggested using a little darker color in the background to make the design pop. Glad I listened! Thank you! Jan

Oh my Heavens, is that ever pretty. I bet with the two layers of wool, those feathers are popping out. Fabric paint, would not have suspected.
