Is this your project? Can you share instructions or a pattern with the Craftsy community?

Difficulty:

Category: Quilting

Type of item: Home Decor

For: Home

Style: Whimsical, Traditional, Casual, Retro / Vintage, Funky, Classic, Mod

Materials

Fabric, Batting, Wadding, Piping Cord and Thread

What was your inspiration?

I really wanted something to put my feet on :) and thought what better way to practice a few techniques and make something useful at the same time!

What are you most proud of?

My first effort at piping and the different quilting motifs.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Use the piping rope that already comes covered in fusible webbing, I got it from my local quilting shop and it was so easy! To make this really solid it required a LOT of wadding. I fortunately have a access to a shop called Reverse Garbage where I got heaps of wadding really really cheap. I put 2 massive rolls of the stuff inside this thing.

This took me back to my first real job, at a draperies & specialties shop. I sewed piping all day long for the first week. This is really beautiful!

It is great! I've been thinking of making myself. I bought Amy Butler's pattern for gum drop pillows and was going to use it as my guide. The grand-kids would love sitting on it!

Love the fabrics! I've got to spend less time looking at all these awesome projects on-line and more time actually quilting myself!

I know just what you mean - how quickly a couple of hours can go by on the computer! I love these colours and I'm working on a lap quilt to go with my new ottoman at the moment. Taking longer than I thought it would though - too much time on the computer :)

Thanks! The top is about 20 inches in diameter, the strips around (ie circumference), were a bit over 60 inches long and it stands about 14 inches high. Glad you like it!
