What was your inspiration?
I learnt this technique of using my Bernina sewing machine to create a hand quilted look and I started quilting this pattern on some furnishing fabrics I bought from Laura Ashley years ago. It turned out really pretty and I decided to make purses with them. I ended up making 6 and gave 5 away!
What are you most proud of?
It was my first attempt at making purses with the purse frames that you have to hand stitch to attach the two together. It was a challenge at first, but if you learn this technique, it is supposedly by far more secure than the ones you glue on.
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
Ensure that you start a project with a bigger purse frame, because anything smaller than a 9cm frame would be frustrating and challenging for beginners,
