What was your inspiration?

My best friend needed a beach/carry lots of stuff bag and it was her birthday...

What are you most proud of?

That she loves it and I did it all by hand - not a single machine stitch!

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Make sure the handles are secured really well, as the bag is so big and can carry so much it really needs strong handles!

Thanks - it wasn't really by choice it was because my sewing maching broke! :) It's a great pattern if you need a big carry all kind of bag!

I love the fact that it's all hand quilted, and the colors you chose blend so well. Definately a keep sake treasure.

Beautiful color choices, and I looooove that you sewed it all by hand, too! I definitely find hand-sewing more relaxing than machine-sewing. Need to devote more time to relaxing than to being impatient, I do ... ;)

Hi I just posted the link from reannalilydesigns - this is the pattern for the bag, but I designed the star piecing, I had originally planned to put a half star on either end, but as I was making it by hand and had a deadline (birthday) I ran out of time and ended up doing the ends in a single piece. I did the design for the star using free software called Quilting Assistant :)

Are the handles hand-plaited? I can't quite make out what they're made of - is that cotton cord?

Hi - yes it's a cotton cord that I hand-plaited to make them thicker and stronger!
