What advice would you give someone starting this project? Don't do as I did & have a senior moment when squaring up the bag pieces. Some how I ended up cutting one bag piece at 17 3/4" instead of 18". So I had to cut the other side the same & consequently lost the tips of my feathers on that side! Note to self: Pay attention!! Now I have to do another one to see if I can get it right! I think I will try to make a slightly smaller one - maybe 16" square. This one is huge! Maybe good for fabric shopping?

Wow. What a beautiful quilting you've done here! Looks gorgeous to me. Can't stop looking at al the wonderfull different lines, I like also the contrasting white thread, you quilted it with. Thank you very much for sharing. As a beginner it seems so far away for me to be able to make such great quilting. To make a bag is a very great idea. I'll have to keep that possibility in mind, whenever I will be able to learn this technique.

Thank you for the kind words! After 15 months of practicing free motion quilting, I'm finally thinking I'm getting it! This is a great project for practicing quilting on a smaller scale than you want to use for a bed quilt.

I really like your bag and the quilting you did on it. Your thread choice is very complimentary, you see the great texture without it being distracting. So nicely done!

Thanks so much! It was fun to try the different motifs. I'm still afraid of using a contrasting thread for quilting!
