What was your inspiration?

One of my very favorite blocks from 2012 BOM was March "Broken Spider Web" design. I loved it so much I made an entire quilt top from it. I wanted to quilt it myself but still haven't gotten around to it. My goal was to get it done by the end of the year. I will tackle the quilting soon though. Now that I did a little bit of free motion work on another project. ( I took the free motion quilting class with Ann Pederson and loved it!) I decided to post this picture now as I was just looking back at the year 2012 and what a great year for quilting it was for me. I feel like I learned so much in 2012!

What are you most proud of?

Not buying any fabric for the quilt other than the white fabric. It was all given to me as a bunch of scraps bunched up in a box. That box was like a treasure chest to me!

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

It's so cool to see how a bunch of "ugly" fabrics suddenly look beautiful when you put them together. Try it for yourself if you can get ahold of some. It is so much fun!

Until I saw this, I didn't think I liked spiderweb quilts. Beautiful blend of colors. The beige adds softness. Thanks for sharing!

Love this quilt and the fact that you only used one of the blocks. I, too, like some of the blocks more than the others, so I also decided not to make some of them. This is beautiful.....great job!

That is so beautiful! I love the fabric colors! It almost looks like a watercolor quilt.

Very nice job! I admire your inventive use of the scraps you were given. I'm on a similar quest to use up my stash and scraps! I know it's totally unrealistic but I'll keep trying. ;-)

I think it would be easy to have fabric scraps get out of control if you don't do a scrappy quilt once in awhile. Thanks for the complement!

This was not my favorite block as it is too wonky - I'm so structured. However, you made a genius decision - and it paid off beautifully.

Usually I like structure too. Sometimes it's good to break away from it a little.

This is beautiful! I love the colors and am disappointed they are scraps so I can't buy the fabric! What a great use of "ugly" fabrics.

I absolutely love your quilt! It is really beautiful. I love the spider blocks and the border really ties everything together! Great job! What size are your spider blocks??

Thanks for the complement! They are 12 1/2 inches each. (Exactly the same as the BOM block)

I REALLY like this quilt! That is one beautiful 'ugly fabric' quilt. Isn't it amazing what you can do with a box of scraps?
