What materials did you use? Hi there My Mom bought a quilt at a craft show which I rec'd after she passed away. It is like no other quilt I have ever seen. Each block is individually quilted and sewn together but on the back the seams are all snipped with scissoers. I am just wondering if anyone has ever seen one like this.. they were charging $700 for it but she bought it for $350.I will try to post a pic but not sure how to do it in here..

It is called a "rag quilt" and the blocks can be made bigger or smaller according to what you want. I make them for baby's all the time. If you want to make one invest in small scissors that I got at JoAnn's craft store. They are made specifically to cut the snips in the rag quilt. If you use regular fabric scissors your hands will be very tired and hurt! That is my best advice. Overall these types of quilts are fun and easy.

When these quilts are made from homespun quilting fabric they are usually called shaggy quilts. The clipped side is actually the front. When made from regular cotton fabric they call them raggy quilts as they shag a little differently and don't shed as much. Either way they are very nice. And yes, there are many patterns on google and other search engines. They are usually quilted with an X from corner to corner both ways and sometimes have other shaggy appliques in the middle of the squares. Easy to make and easy to quilt. Good luck.

Thank you all for the information.. I will definitely be making one of these quilts. . I think they are great for hiding discrepancies lol. I usually just make patchwork quilts I find them alot easier then appliqu or anythng fancy like Dresden Stars or Wheels.. I just dont have the patience anymore.. My last quilt was made from my Moms dusters.. I called it a duster quilt.. my Mom has since passed away and the quilt has become very dear to me.. she saved up boxes and boxes of quilt patches and I have them as well. I wil make quilts for my 3 sisters and myself from the patches.. somethng personal for us to have to remember Mom by.

These quilts are very linty & should be washed separately. For better results don't wash your fabrics before sewing.
