Instructions

This quilt was in the February 2011 issue of American Patchwork and Quilting. I made my quilt 80 X 80.

Difficulty:

Category: Quilting

Type of item: Functional

For: Home

Style: Traditional, Classic, Retro / Vintage, Casual, Romantic, Mod

Materials

Fabric- Fandango by Kate Spain and HennaGarden Batting, thread, floss

What was your inspiration?

I wanted to do a quilt with applique petals and this one called out to me!

What are you most proud of?

This was my first attempt at hand quilting (I couldn't get the quilting right in my sewing machine). I love the leaf design around the border!

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

My hand quilting was far from perfect so I used a "busy" print for the backing. I also tried various options for holding my quilt when quilting it and found I was most comfortable just holding it in my lap with no hoops.

This pattern was in the February 2011 issue of American Patchwork & Quilting magazine. You may be able to track down an issue through a friend or the library. They do have a free wall quilt size pattern that you can download for free and you could just adjust the size.

Thanks! I still struggle with coordinating fabrics on my own so using this layer cake of Fandango made it easier for me!
