Quilt-as-you-go

Pattern Info

Pattern info for this project can be found here:

Instructions

This pattern was from the Australian magazine - Quilter's Companion.

Difficulty:

Category: Quilting

Type of item: Home Decor

For: Home

Style: Traditional

What was your inspiration?

I watched a DVD from Quilter's Companion which showed how to construct this quilt. As I had some left-over curtain fabric (which I used for the backing) I thought I would make a quilt for our bed...

What are you most proud of?

This was my second 'real' quilt - I thought the 'quilt-as-you-go' technique looked easy (until i had to work out how to put all the blocks together...) I am very proud that I finished it and that it fits our bed perfectly (more out of good luck than good management).

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Projects that provide a degree of 'challenge' are often more satisfying in the end.

Your quilt is very pretty & I really like the affect of the quilting that you get when you do the "Quilt as you go" method. Thank you for sharing.

Yes! that's the one - well done for tracking it down. I turned my 'on-point' for interest but either way looks good. Enjoy making it and post it when you are done - i'd love to see it.

I must be missing something. Are there supposed to be a pattern and instructions for this method? I think it would be great, but need help, please. Thank you.

Hi, I didn't include the pattern - I found it in an old magazine (Quilter's Companion - Aust) so thought it would breach copyright to post it online. this link may help you: http://www.completecraft.com.au/?p=7216

You did a great job. I agree, the system SEEMS easy when you first look at it, but assembling the blocks and all that top stitching when I did it nearly drove me batty. You can see mine under my projects. It's an African themed yellow and blue design.
