What was your inspiration?
I had this ceramic mardi gras mask lying around, one I had bought from a department store years and year ago, and I didn't really want it anymore, so I decided why not go ahead and decorate it? So I painted it black and decided to use one of my favorite color combinations, which I just refer to as the "peacock colors." So I quilled some feathers, instead of using some feathers I had lying around, then I added 2 of my favorite craft accents: glitter and jewels!
What are you most proud of?
I love the colors against the black, it's extremely dramatic, and the mask isn't so big that there's too much going on, it's only about 6-7 inches long (from top to bottom) so all the glittery/glimmery details are small enough that they don't create an eye-sore.
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
Plan it out. If you're going to use real feathers, plan where on the mask you think they look best before gluing them down. Even if you're going to make your own feathers, planning their placement beforehand makes it a WHOLE lot easier than deciding half way through that they'd look better in a different spot.
