Here are some details about my project:
Category Quilting
Type Home Decor
Style Funky, Whimsical on

What materials did you use? Hand dyed fabric, machine and hand embroidery stitches, quilting and beading on

What are you most proud of? I really like the way it turned out. I took it to a friend's house to show her the completed project. Her den was painted an apple green and when we held it on the wall it was so stunning that she wants to buy it! on

What advice would you give someone starting this project? Just go pick out a picture, fabric, article of clothing, anything that you like and start there with your color selection. Have fun. As Carol Ann says, there are no rules! on

love the way you have put your colours together

Wow wow wow. Love the use of color, this piece is a stunner.

Thanks. The photo does not do it justice. The greens and reds really pop, especially when hung on a green wall!

I LOVE this! How did you think to put this together? Did you plan it all out or was it a happy accident? No matter, it is gorgeous !

Thank you for your nice comments. I wanted to try a black background so i went to Hobby Lobby and looked at upholstery and drapery fabrics for inspiration. I found a piece that I liked, bought a small amount and went home and used the fabric piece as my color pallette. That is really all the planning that I did.

I was looking at your first piece in the Stupendous Stitching blog and absolutely love it. What color of background fabric did you use with it? Have you tried making a larger piece (such as a 12" x 48")? I'm not surprised that your friend wants to buy this! :)

Oops! Forgot to note that this piece is absolutely fabulous also. You're really awesome with colors and details!!! :)
