Instructions

This is a basic log cabin quilt. Log cabin blocks are simple and quick to construct. I like them because there are many design options for lay out. Not sure what this layout is called. I quilted it using a short arm on a frame, free motion.

Difficulty:

Category: Quilting

Type of item: Functional

For: Home

Style: Classic, Romantic, Traditional

Materials

Cotton quilting fabrics and basic sewing supplies and lots and lots of thread for quilting this 105/105 inch quilt.

What was your inspiration?

A suggestion from a niece and my stash. I did have to buy the backing fabric and one of the reds.

What are you most proud of?

I like the colors.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Determine how many blocks you need to make for the size quilt you want, Make all the blocks before committing to one design for lay out. Lay out blocks in a variety of different designs. Take a picture of each before you lay out the next one. You can make your choice by looking back though the pictures.

This is very beautiful! Love all the variations of red! I also like the log cabin blocks. Thank you for the stash buster inspiration. I have posted my first log cabin. I am presently working on another quilt top. Wish I had room for a log arm machine - that is definitely on the very top of my wish list! Thanks for the inspiration!
