Still wearing the crown!!!

Learn It

This project was made as part of a Craftsy course:
The Costume Box: Dress-Up for Holiday and Every Day »

Difficulty:

Category: Sewing

Type of item: Costume

For: Girls

Style: Cute, Whimsical

Materials

The material for the cloak is satin. For the crown I used pelmet vilene and covered it with gold lame and used felt for the jewels, ( our 2yr old would remove beads ) and the skirt is made from a sheer polyester.

What was your inspiration?

I needed a costume for the jubilee celebrations. Our local playgroup asked if they could be dressed in red white and blue or as a princess hence the colour scheme.

What are you most proud of?

My 2 year old grandaughter loved it and is still wearing the crown constantly.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

The course is good fun and has a lot of great ideas. Velcro is a great fastener for dressing up clothes for small children.

what a beautiful costume....fit for a coronation! I wish I had a sewing machine to make a gorgeous cape like that! I am working on a "princess" outfit for my little princess. Please post more pictures....great inspiration!

I had to improvise for the skirt. I have sent for tulle but this costume had to be made in a huge hurry for the playgroup party.
