What was your inspiration?
I decided that turning 25 on 12-12-12 was kind of a big deal, so I'm planning to take myself to Hawaii for a little sunshine and celebration. I'm in love with the sarong style dresses of Alfred Shaheen--but can't find the funds in the budget of grad-student to shell out a few hundred dollars on an original.
What are you most proud of?
I have to confess: this is my first sewing project. Ever. Except a tooth fairy pillow we all sewed in second grade as a class project.
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
Take it slow. Also, don't stay up till 5am working on the dress just because you're so excited about how it's coming along. Pace yourself!
