What was your inspiration?

I previously pieced this layout using Sherbet Pips. I wanted to use the same layout, but create a very different look. I created this quilt to submit in the quilt show for QuiltCon!

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

I used 21 different colored solids for this quilt top. For the pieced blocks, I used 2 - 10" squares of each of the 21 colors.
The borders are 7 different neutrals, including several greys, white, and black.
The green stripe is the only print in the quilt top!

I love the look of this quilt in solids!

This quilt will be included in the quilt show at QuiltCon in February 2013!

Hi! For this quilt, I used a light grey for all of the pieced sections and the green/white stripe area. The neutral colored borders were straight line quilting with thread matching the border color. Thanks for asking!

This is really wonderful, I love the colors, thanks for the info, I haven't tackled a quilt yet and am so worried about the thread colors and how it will look on contrast fabrics.

You can match the thread color to the background or go with all one color for the entire quilt. Either way is totally fine! Sometimes I use contrasting thread on purpose. :) Good Luck!
