Purse of Knowledge

Learn It

This project was made as part of a Craftsy course:
Quilting Quickly II: Patterns, Techniques & Tips »

Instructions

Use borders around the star to make it equal three rows of three charm packs. I added a flap and Velcro closure to the general instructions for a purse in Quilting Quickly 1.I also made it a shoulder bag because that is what she likes.

Difficulty:

Category: Quilting

Type of item: Accessory

For: Women

Style: Casual

Materials

cotton fabric, charm packs,

What was your inspiration?

My sister-in-law completed her Ph.D while working full time, giving time to her kids and grand kids, and driving for several years twice a week -250 miles for classes. I wanted to design a unique present for her that represented the hard work and hours and miles she put in.

What are you most proud of?

Figuring out how to make a large block and charm packs work together fora purse.
Picking embroidery stitches for quilting that enhanced the design.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Use a slightly longer stitch so you can do your "frog stitch" (rip it,rip it)

You will be able to! Just keep learning and trying new thiings...sometimes they work, and sometimes they don't, and sometimes you get a brand new design you never intended!
