Pattern Info

New Look A6162

Instructions

Added a lining even the pattern did not call for it. Slightly ruffled the collar and raised the back neckline about an inch.

Difficulty:

Category: Sewing

Type of item: Clothing

For: Women

Style: Traditional, Romantic

Materials

Dark purple brocade with copper embroidery from Mood fabrics, purple china silk lining, pro-weft medium weight interfacing.

What was your inspiration?

Once again, "Goodbye Valentino" has been copied. Seeing the brocade jacket she made this fall got me to looking at Brocades on the Mood Fabrics website. I also used the same pattern she did for this project.

What are you most proud of?

The way it fits and the professionally made look.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Use couture techniques whenever possible. I didn't underline this particular jacket, and I wish I had. I did install a full lining, including sleeves, so it feel great to wear. It would have been nice to catch-stitch all the seam allowances (they do behave fairly well, though).

Thank you, Chris! Found the fabric at Mood Fabrics online store. Thought I was going to lose it to one of my daughters. And I nearly sold it to a lady in the airport. Fun!

This is stunningly beautiful Cheryl. It reminds me of a similar jacket I made last year. I'll post it soon so you can see.

Thanks, Scheri. I'm currently making a mother-of-the-bride dress for one of my dearest friends. Her initial fitting had to be postponed due to her just recently being diagnosed with ovarian cancer and a subsequent hystrectomy. The wedding is next week and I am just now getting it cut out. Fortunately our spring break is starting and I will be able to devote all my time to sewing. I will definitely post pictures of Marti in the dress. Happy thought and prayers are appreciated. This one is important!
