A wedding cake for 2013 - just practice

What are you most proud of?

I like the spots on the petals :o)

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

I think Vanda's are supposedly the easiest Orchid to try first, so a good place to start!

Oh, boy, I maybe biased as this is one of my favourite colours but really, gorgeous is an understatement! I suspect that you put a photo of a real orchid here :o)

Gorgeous! The veining is fantastic, is it a special Vanda Orchid veiner? Also, can I ask, what is Paint Mate please? I haven't heard of this. I tend to use petal dust mixed with a bit of vodka, for painting.

Yes, it's a special veiner for Vanda Orchids. I bought this and the cutters from Scoot Clark Woolley. I love his cutters (and have them posted to the UK). Paint Mate is just a rejuvinator. You can use white spirit as well.

I started with a lilad coloured paste. I dusted them with Empress purple and added the dots in Empress Purple as well (made into paste with Paint Mate).
