What materials did you use? Quilting cotton, poly batting.

What are you most proud of? Managing to squeeze all the pieces out of fat quarters that weren't quite big enough, especially considering that I fussy-cut the peacock pieces. And then being inventive when I ran out of fabric for certain sections. I was still quite a new quilter at the time, I think this was my third quilt.

What advice would you give someone starting this project? The clear batiks and stained glass effect don't really go with the other fabrics, but oh well! The purple and blue batiks are only two fabrics, both from Sew Batik's "Gradation" range which shades from light to dark across each fabric width. Cutting them carefully will give you the shaded effect. This pattern is a nice way to get a circle effect while still sewing all straight lines. You end up with a lot of multi-seam joins, and you can't press them all going in the same direction.

Love the color combination - especially the gradation fabric coming up at the opposite side in the border. Nice idea! Thanks a lot for sharing.
