What was your inspiration?
I was contacted by Sgt David Wilkinson who did tours in Iraq and Afghanistan and is a Purple Heart recipient wanting me to incorporate these factors into a necklace or choker for him. I realized that I needed to develop the purple heart bead pattern, like I had done with all the other Military Logo's. I am still working on the finished item for him, but I felt compelled to share this wonderful pattern with the world.
What are you most proud of?
I enjoy making items that Veterans can show their Pride with. At the Native American Pow Wow we say, "Thank You and Welcome Home" to the Veterans as they are identified in the Grand Entry, but many in public are hard to identify. Please read my blogg for more about this project here:

What advice would you give someone starting this project?
Have a working knowledge of the beading technique, whether you use Brick stitch, Peyote, or Comanche. I personally prefer Delica seed beads, but I had the colors for this particular pattern in the regular round seed beads, so that Is what I used for the prototype. I also tweaked the pattern to be more symmetrical and heart shaped after the prototype came out. I encourage anyone to adjust the pattern to suit them, with or without the background, as a pendant, or patch.
