What was your inspiration?
I had been wanting to do a butter cream ruffle cake, (Had done a fondant ruffle cake) and I have been asked to do one in June for a wedding. So basically, I am practicing. This was for a friend's birthday.
What are you most proud of?
It's hard to find something that I was proud of. The icing got too soft and I should have put it in the refrigerator for a while. I started at the top, working down and had trouble with the last rows.
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
I did use candy mold coloring, and it is a brilliant color. Keep the butter cream cold and be sure to gauge the amount of icing for each color. I had a hard time with the bottom rows because of the platter the cake was on and the icing starting softening. Practice.... Practice
