Also used Nicholas Lodges class for the flower, but had to make up my own flower since I didn't have the anemone cutter.

What was your inspiration?

I had been wanting to do a butter cream ruffle cake, (Had done a fondant ruffle cake) and I have been asked to do one in June for a wedding. So basically, I am practicing. This was for a friend's birthday.

What are you most proud of?

It's hard to find something that I was proud of. The icing got too soft and I should have put it in the refrigerator for a while. I started at the top, working down and had trouble with the last rows.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

I did use candy mold coloring, and it is a brilliant color. Keep the butter cream cold and be sure to gauge the amount of icing for each color. I had a hard time with the bottom rows because of the platter the cake was on and the icing starting softening. Practice.... Practice

My favorite color, beautiful job! I'm sure you know this, but if the buttercream starts to soften on your wedding cake, just pop it back in the fridge for a bit. Nothing wrong with taking breaks for beautiful results!
