Instructions

This design was created by piecing together small pieces of purple fabrics and strips of purple and green batiks. The back is a green batik and the border is a blue/green batik.

Difficulty:

Category: Quilting

Type of item: Functional

For: Children

Style: Funky

Materials

Batik fabrics in purple and greens, cotton fabrics in purple shades.

What was your inspiration?

I had ordered both the batik fabrics and purple fabrics online - from two different sources, and they happened to arrive on the same day. I had NO idea what I'd make when I ordered them, but when I opened both packages and put them down on the table together I KNEW I had to find a way to combine them.

What are you most proud of?

The finished product. I just LOVE how this quilt turned out. It's bright and cheerful - fun for a baby's room or a toddler. It's also a great playmat or car blanket.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Try some fabrics you haven't used before and just have fun!

I love this quilt! The colors are wonderful! I would use it as a decorative piece, like a wall quilt!

Thank you! I'm taking it to a farmer's market next week, so we'll see what the "general public" thinks. I think it would look lovely as a wall hanging too.
