What materials did you use? Pumpkin Blended Upholstery Fabric, Soft Brown Upholstery Fabric Interior, upcycled baby crib bumper padding, deconstructed, washed, and split (peeled horizontal to reduce the loft). Handmade polymer clay beads for zipper pull, and store bought beads for surface design. Long, cross body straps.

What are you most proud of? I love the Pumpkin colored fabric; it has a textured grid surface that helped me lay dowan a straight line of beads. Advantage. Laying down one thick band of beads caused me to paused from hour to hour. The question was--when to stop??? I don't know . . . I just worked on it until it looked good (when I stand six feet away).

What advice would you give someone starting this project? CONTRAST: I machine stitched decorative stitch in black on the parting line of the long cross body straps. The dense decorative stitch looks great, and also gives the straps extra firmness.

You sewed that whole big band of beads? Wow. Amazing! Fabulous. I'm running out of words!

Hi Carol. Answering your question--yes I sewed all the beads by hand. It comes down to being a novice about learning bead embroidery, and not really knowing when to stop. The top band of beads kept getting wider at one end. . . oops, so I just went with it. Finally I straightened it out with a little chalk mark to guide me. I'm getting my bead freak groove on. Soon, I'll figure out just what I'm doing. But for now, Ha. Ha. No rules just like you told us.

I'm so inspired by your work too . . . your colorful Crayon quilt has me building flying geese blocks . . . with bright-lights colors for center triangles. I look at your Crayon quilt often and try to channel its magic! Talk to you again soon. Your friend, Linda (Shoestring).
