What was your inspiration?
I have a former private student who is about to move off to college. I've kind of become a bit of a big sister to her over the years. She's very much into the goth culture and LOVES Halloween, bats, pumpkins, spiders and the color purple. I'm putting together a small gathering of useful items to give her as a gift next week.
What are you most proud of?
I love how the pumpkins pop against the purple fabric! They compliment one another much better than I thought.
I also noticed I'm starting to get the hang of doing corners. :) I like how most of these turned out... They're getting easier -- especially after picking up a couple of tricks.
What advice would you give someone starting this project?
I like what the designer said: use a solid color for the lining -- it will help you see the items in the tray. The instructions don't say it, but I'm going to try using starch on the fabric. I don't like how my edges are bowed (and I stitched it very straight). I think the starch will help (another tip I picked up from another project....).
