I adapted the pattern to turn the body of the bear into a bag to put an insulin pump into at night.

Materials

Plush Fur Soft Toy Filling Wide Toothed Zip

What was your inspiration?

I made the pump pal for my son. His insulin pump (think of it as a small life support machine if you've not heard of one before) goes inside the body part of the bear that I have turned into a zipped bag. He will cuddle the teddy instead of having the pump strapped to him in bed at night.

What are you most proud of?

How much he loves "Monk"

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

1. The bag part of the toy (the body of the teddy in the one I did) must NOT be padded or stuffed in anyway. That could cause the insulin in the pump to over heat.

2. The zip MUST have wide teeth. A Narrow toothed zip would cut off insulin supply if the thin tubing got caught in it. The tube is very thin.

3. Have the open end of the zip stop about 1/2 inch before the end of the opening. The tubing will sit in that "hole" when the zip is closed.
