July Craftsy Block of the Month

Style: Cute, Retro / Vintage, Romantic, Whimsical, Classic, Traditional

Materials

Verna Mosquera's Veranda, Shaded Veranda and Blossoming Veranda and Amy Butler's Stash Gypsy Caravan charm packs received in the June Mystery Quilt Box. I think it's gonna be one block on a quilt of experimental stuff in like fabrics. This has not been sewn together or attached to the white setting square...Kona Cotton White of course.

What was your inspiration?

The Block of the Month Course with Amy Gibson! Having SO much fun learning with this course.

What are you most proud of?

Basically that I did this thing. And I did it differently than Amy showed in the course. I had watched Missouri Star Quilt Company's video and sort of combined the two techniques. I did it though, without going back and reviewing and so I used twice as much fabric as I should have. I also discovered a cute way to create diamond triangles with the negative pieces from this project. Those will be in the quilt I make with this block too. The fabrics are very Victorian-like with lots of pink and green and various shades of those colors. I love the prints, very traditional. I thought this might end up being a pillow, but I'm already creating another quilt from it in my head! At 48 years old I have finally found my method of artistic expression, where I can design and create EXACTLY what is in my head! Thanks so much to Craftsy for making that BOM course free. It has changed my life!

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Do it like they do it in the course or you will use too much fabric!

Love these colors.....and this would be a beautiful pillow with your quilt! You'll have to make a few more. :)

Fabrics are so pretty - nice they came in a Mystery Box. I love that kind of surprise. Good job
