Is this your project? Can you share instructions or a pattern with the Craftsy community?

Difficulty:

Category: Quilting

Type of item: Functional

For: Charity

Style: Whimsical, Cute, Casual, Classic

Materials

100% cotton panel and backing fabric, 80/20 quilt batting and 40 wt embroidery thread for the quilting.

What was your inspiration?

I purchased several yards of "scrap" at the annual tent sale at Keepsake Quilting in New Hampshire last year and this panel was one such "scrap". I collected so many beautiful "scraps" for Project Linus quilts and will eventually get them all turned into quilts for sick children.

What are you most proud of?

Just having the ability and time to make quilts for Project Linus as well as adding lap quilts for our veterans. I get to indulge my love of sewing and have the joy of giving to good causes.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Panels are easy and a perfect project for beginners as it allows you to focus on the quilting rather than the piecing.

Hi Nancy, Can you tell me where you got the pattern for this project? I haven't quilted since my children were little and would love to make something like this for my grandson. It is a adorable. ..... You did a terrific job. Michelle Penrose-Sinclair, Richmond Hill, Ontario

Hi Michelle! It's a panel! I bought it last June as part of the 'scraps' bag deals at Keepsake Quilting up in New Hampshire. The deal was to pack pattern size ziploc bags with as many fabrics as you could fit from the 'scrap' boxes they kept bringing out over two days of the sale. I packed 14 bags, and these panels were among the 'scraps'!

In fact, Michelle, if you look online for "Big Bird quilt panel" I'll bet you can find them and where you could get one. I'm sure they're not made anymore since it was last year, but secondary markets online probably have them!
