Princess Cake

Instructions

The tiara was made out of gumpaste. I design the pattern myself. I traced it on wax paper which I taped to a can the size I wanted the tiara to be. I let it dry and then I dusted it with white pearl dust.. I used a mold to do the pearls and I used a struder to make the sways. Made the hearts using s cookie cutter.

Difficulty:

Category: Cake Decorating

Type of item: Food

For: Girls

Style: Cute

Materials

Fondant, gumpaste, little silver peals, molds

What was your inspiration?

The little girl who the cake was made for inspire me. She is the only girl in her family the rest are boys and they treat her like a princess. She is so cute she looks like a princess.

What are you most proud of?

I am proud of the whole cake. I had a lot of fun doing it and the lille girl just loved and thats what made me happy, the look on her face when she saw it.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

To have patients. When working with gumpast/fondant you need time and my adivice is to always give yourself time so when its time to decorate your cake you have everything ready, you don't have to stop to let something dry.

You need to bake two cakes the size of your choice. The bottom layer I covered in Satin Icing. I made the quilt design with a large Diamond Quilting maker (from www.creativecutters.com). You must do this as soon as you place the fondant on the cake, if the fondant gets hard, it will crack when you try to do the quilting. You can also do the quilting with aa impression quilting mat. Then I placed white dragees which you can get online. The next tier was also covered in satin Ice fondat which I colored pink. The drapping was done with fondant with a little cms powder so it would not loose its shape. This is how I did it. I place some fondant in a strudder tool. i used the discs with the size of hole I needed to make the drapes. I took a strand at a time and place it on the marks that I had previously marked. To mark your cake a piece of tape that is used on adding machines and place it around the cake. Then you decides how many swags you want and fold the paper in half, and again until you get the number you want. For example(1 six inch cake if I want 4 sways I fold the paper in half and then fold in half again and I got the four swags I wanted. Then place the paper aroud the cake and mark where there is a fold. In swags inbetween were made with a mold. I brush super pear dust on the swags and the decoration in between. I placed pearls around the the tiers. For the tierra I made a drawing and taped it to wax paper which I then taped to a jar the size that I wanted the tierra to be. I made the tierra with gumpast making sure the strings were wide enough to support the design. I did it 1 week ahead of time, I hope this helps you. I do not have the equiptment that is need to do a vedio. .
