Potholders/towel topper

Is this your project? Can you share instructions or a pattern with the Craftsy community?

Category: Sewing

Type of item: Functional

For: Home

Style: Traditional, Casual

Materials

Cotton Fabric, Batting (reg. & heat resistant) kitchen towel.

What was your inspiration?

My sister needing some new potholders for her kitchen. Then she went and hung them up on the wall cause she said they were too pretty to use.

What advice would you give someone starting this project?

Be patient, especially with the last part of putting the binding around the edges of the potholders. The towel topper is a breeze.

Where can I find a pattern for the towel topper or something similar? I'm new to sewing (matter of fact I'm in the process of buying a sewing machine) and would love to make some of the towels for my mother. My grandmother used to make similar towels but she would crochet the tops on them. My grandmother passed away nearly 10 years ago and my mom is on her last few towels left and I would love to make some new ones for her.

I love this project. It is perfect for giving to my family members just setting up housekeeping. I would like to have the pattern. Please advise how I may acquire the pattern.

Here is a link to essentially the same pattern. I purchased it at a local sewing store that is now closed. I am not sure where my pattern is. http://www.with-heart-and-hands.com/2008/02/how-to-make-heart-shaped-hotpad.html

The towel-topper I drew by hand, but you could also probably find a pattern on emblibrary.com in their projects page.
