Love everything about this: the color, the fit, and the neckline. What I especially love is that, like me, you're a busty gal. This sweater has reassured me that I *can* wear a cabled sweater and maintain my curves (vs. looking like a box). Well done!

I loved reading your comments, thank you! Being busty means it's always a challenge knitting a sweater, I'm never quite sure it it's going to end up fitting OK. So, thank you!

BEAUTIFUL!! Did you drop the neckline a bit or follow the pattern exactly?

Thank you!!! I followed directions for the neckline as written. I did add some short rows below, in the bust area but I don't think that would affect the neckline

Thank you for your photos and comments. I have been dithering about starting the sweater because I am so inexperienced at substituting yarns. (I am allergic to wool/lanolin and green is my least favourite colour.) Now that I know it will look so pretty in blue, I will get myself off to the LYS and see what they suggest. What size did you make, and how much yardage or grams did you need?

I knit size 42 and I used about 1400 yards of worsted weight yarn. I had another skein available so I wouldn't be nervous about running out. My stitch gauge was right on for the pattern. Good luck, I hope you find a color you love!

You did a spectacular job with this one. The buttons add just a bit of whimsy to such a classic piece. Bravo!

What a beautiful cardigan! Did you alternate rows with the mad tosh? The shades are blending so incredibly well and the cables are so visible! Love it!!!
merodrigues on craftsy.com
Aug 17, 2012   Flag as inappropriate
Funny you should mention that! I had two skeins much darker than the others and did some alternating towards the top of the sweater. I also used the darker yarn for the cuffs and button bands, which looks most obvious. Kind of a nuisance, but I can't resist madelinetosh colors :)
